Morning Star Ranch

    Located in the North County area of San Diego County, about twenty minutes off of I-15, we are an organic farm with orchards, animals, and a large garden.

    We have abundant opportunities to help around the Farm, in our cottage industries, and around the house and the yards. We have a large, eight acre garden that we plant year round, pomegranate, persimmon, grapefruit, and olive orchards, as well as numbers of other trees, such as about sixty guavas. We have chickens for eggs, goats and cows for milk, sheep to help us mow our lawns and for meat, and all need care daily. It is a very special place. In our cottage industries we make value added agricultural products that we ship and sell at six farmer's markets each week. It is a full and busy day each one of us, and we rest on the seventh day of the week, the Sabbath.

  • Accommodations

    For single men we have a yurt shared with brothers who are here. For single women we have rooms they share with sisters. Bathrooms and showers are available, and they are shared with the households - we are a sizable community of families young and old and single people.

  • Transportation

    From Interstate 15 North or South:

    1. Exit at Gopher Canyon, turn right at light onto Old US 395/Champagne Blvd.

    2. Turn left at next light (one block) onto Old Castle Road.

    3. Follow windy road (several miles) up a large hill (at the top is a small air strip called Air Flight Drive).

    4. Continue several miles until curvy downhill portion of Old Castle, turn left at bottom on hill onto Lilac Road.

    5. Go several miles on Lilac (going past Lilac Elementary and Lilac Oaks Campground) until the road curves uphill, stay right at the Y.

    6. Continue down the hill, passing the Lilac Yellow Deli right after the small bridge over Keys Creek.

    7. Turn right on the next road, a dirt road called Keys Creek Road, follow for about one and a half miles (follow signs for either Lavender Farms or Morning Star Ranch).

    8. Turn left up the steep driveway at the friendly "Morning Star Ranch" sign.

    9. Drive slow on the farm, the parking lot is a quarter mile up or so on the right.
